There are many things to consider when a horse is transported from one country to another.

At CBIHT, we take care of everything, including:

• all stringent government and statutory body requirements;
• all pre-export/import quarantine requirements;
• all veterinary work including blood testing and vaccinations ;
• road transport;
• transfers of registration if required;
• government veterinary inspections;
• freight and clearance; and
• transit/mortality insurance at competitive rates as required.

Your horses are transferred by road from your property to our holding stables, where they are generally rested for two days prior to travel. Your horse then travels to the airport by road transport.

On the airport tarmac, your bloodstock is handled with care and loaded into a first class horse container. Non-slip ramps ensure smooth and safe loading of your bloodstock. The stall is well ventilated, has plenty of head room and can accommodate three large horses. Its internal, full height partitions can be adjusted to vary the width of the stall.

Once inside the aircraft, the horses are in an air-conditioned environment. The flying groom monitors the well-being of your horse and provides feed and water as the animal requires.

We do all we possibly can to ensure stress free air travel, so your horse will arrive at its destination in top condition.

Once the horse is landed in the country of destination, and customs cleared, it travels by road to the Quarantine Station where it is held until the completion of quarantine. The amount of time will vary from 72 hours to 14 full days, dependant upon the requirements of the country of destination. In some countries your horse can travel immediately to its destination once it has been quarantine and custom cleared at the airport.
